As always, we encourage any Longhouse, Tribe or members to submit articles, stories & spirit in the newsletter. “Share the Stories, Spread the Spirit”!
The annual Sunshine State Pow Wow will take place at the Spirit of the Suwannee Music Park and Campground from March 10th through 13th. All longhouses in the state of Florida, even those not part of National Longhouse, will convene for four days of entertainment and activities. They will have storytellers, dancers, and the crowd-favorite snake wranglers on hand putting on several shows each day. There will also be a number of exciting new war games, an impressive collection of raffle prizes, and a huge bonfire.
If any Native Sons and Daughters members outside of Florida wish to attend, you are asked to contact statewide-help@nsdjax.org.
This year’s annual meeting will be held April 29th – May 1st, 2016 at the Blue Creek Cabins in Helen, Georgia. Schedule and travel details to be communicated individually for attending members.
The 2016 Annual Meeting is also an election year. Elections will be held for the National Council of Officer Positions of National Chief, National Assistant Chief, National Wampum Bearer, and National Tallykeeper. Details on the nomination process will be announced in the next newsletter. For more information on any of these positions, please contact National Chief Bryan Davis, nationalchief@nationallonghouse.org.

We’ve designed a new rocker patch, to distinguish members of Pathfinders!
The patch is designed to fit over the Native Sons and Daughters Programs® path. It is fully embroidered in distinctive black, green, and non-metallic gold colors. The patches are available upon request for all registered first year members of NSD Pathfinders℠. Contact the National Chief at nationalchief@nationallonghouse.org.
On August 15th, Native Sons and Daughters of Jacksonville gathered members to enjoy their annual overnight canoe trip on the mighty Suwannee River. Check out the full report from Steve “Red Bear” Sharpe.
Today, we’re introducing a new community contribution section on the National Longhouse web site: Our Stories. In Our Stories, we will showcase articles showing how Longhouses across the country stay active with tribe outings, campouts, and special events. We can all share and learn more about how other Longhouses participate in this wonderful program. Maybe this will help spark some new ideas too.
If you have an event you’d like to share, you’ll just have to send us some photos and a short article talking about your event. To get started, contact us first using the “Content Contribution” link here.
The National Longhouse Community Service Project guidelines have been revised to permit awards to be distributed year-round with no specific deadline to submit forms. This project is an opportunity for all membership (Longhouses and/or Tribes) to participate in community service works and earn national recognition for their efforts.
If you need ideas, craft supplies, patches, vests, or derby car kits, take a look at our vendor directory first. If there are vendors you use in your local longhouse, please let us know about them by emailing us.
